The best of 2003
Chosen from hundreds of images, these few photos
capture a small slice of the adventures of the
RAICES family during the last 12 months. A
testament to the diversity of the Groups’ shows
and the tenacity of its’ members. Full of color
and energy, we hope they will spark a smile of
recognition for those who were present and an
appreciation of the incredible work of this
Sacramento based group of Folkloristas. |
SF Auditions test resolve
There
is something about preparing for an
audition or Big show that brings a group
together. The long hours at practice, the
attention to every details, the
recognition of each dancers' strengths and
weaknesses. On January 24th, 17 dancers
performed RAICES' signature Chihuahua
choreography before a panel of dance
experts at SF State McKenna theater. |

Raices Kid's classes
After 8
years as an organization that has been
dedicated to preserving and presenting
Mexican Dance, our companies' goal of
offering expanded classes for kids has
finally come true. The classes are open to
all local children ages 4-11. Maestra
Irma Abella has over a decade of
experience dancing and teaching
forlkllorico to kids. Room is still
available for your child. Register at the
class every Saturday morning at 9AM at
RAICES studio. |

Mt. Shasta Raices Tour - 2003

north. Traveling with over 40 dancers and
performers, this was one of the most
memorable events of our performing season. |

Escuela de
Danza -Grand Opening 11/1/03
In an
amazing celebration of Cultural Dance, RAICES'
celebrated the Grand Opening of the
Cultural Dance Center in Old Sacramento on
Saturday 11/1. RAICES is committed to having
the new Center serve as an exciting place
for the community of Sacramento to learn
and share Latino Cultural Arts for many
years to come.

California State Fair:
Where the
sights and sounds of families at play mix
with the rush from rides on the midway,
and a crush of visitors from all parts of
the State. RAICES is proud to have been
invited for the 3rd straight year to
participate as feature performers in the
nightly parade on August 19-September 1,
2003. |
